It was a new year and a new chapter for me when I moved into my new place in January. I’ve finally got around to shooting some video and snapping some photos of my space to give you a quick apartment tour.
This is my first interior decorating endeavour ’cause I’m a bit of a n00b with this stuff. Watch my video above to see the highlights then scroll down to see more things you won’t find in the video. Enjoy!
Updated view with mint chevron curtains from Bed Bath & Beyond (sold out).
Also available at West Elm in different colours.
String lights: AMARS 3mx3m wall lights (originally from Amazon.ca)
Opposite view from the balcony windows. Entrance door is closest to the fridge, followed by the double-door coat closet, laundry room (not shown), and bathroom door.
My workspace with the succulent I had — yes, had, past tense. Winter killed it. Blame winter.
Does my workspace actually look like this? Yes, it’s pretty bare. I generally like to have all my stuff hidden. More on that in the video tour.
I keep this beautiful gold aromaGem Nebulizer on the drawer unit next to my desk. It helps purify the air around my workspace while diffusing my favourite essential oils.
Here’s the bathroom which I love! It’s got a modern feel to it with the marble countertops and dark floors / cabinet doors. I also really enjoy this shower curtain! I think it adds a classy touch to my bathroom.
I personally prefer darker textiles in my bathroom so when I found this bath rug at Walmart and its matching towel set (not shown), I fell in love. In this lovely, rich “Fig” shade, I think it compliments my bathroom flooring, fixtures, and shower curtain quite well.
I mentioned in the apartment tour video that I prefer to not have any photos out in the open at my place. I do, however, have one photo framed. To keep with the circular theme in my bathroom, I’ve hung up this photo I took during a rainy storm night in Toronto. This photo means a lot to me as it was my first photo to make Flickr’s “Explore” section (aka it was deemed as one of “Flickr’s finest” photos on that specific day).
Finally, the bedroom. I talk about it in detail in the apartment tour video, but the main takeaway is that I’m not that great at decor so I picked out a showroom bedroom I liked at IKEA and pretty much styled the bedding the same way.
I will say, though, after pulling off this setup, I’ve developed a better understanding of what works well together and how to add my own personal touches when it comes to interior decorating.
Silk white pillowcases: Spasilk 100% Pure Silk Facial Beauty Pillowcase, Standard/Queen (Amazon.ca)
I used the exact linens in that showroom bedroom except for the silk white pillowcases, which a friend had introduced me to as a good investment for skincare and haircare.
And that’s the tour! Hope you liked this post / video.
Do we have any of the same decor? How would / have you dressed up your own space? Let me know in the comments section below.
Have a great week, everyone ?
